Kevin George, II - Shihan, Dojo-cho
Kevin began training in the Bujinkan in 2004 under the tutelage of the late Dai Shihan Robert F. Johnson. Kevin has been teaching the art for over 18 years and has run multiple training groups: Brevard College Ninpo Taijutsu, Knoxville Bujinkan Dojo, Bujinkan Rocky Mountain Dojo and now the Bujinkan Toku Ryu Sui Aoyama Dojo. Kevin takes his instruction from Duncan Stewart, Dai Shihan who is a personal student of Nagato Soke.
Kevin has traveled twice to Japan to train with Soke Hatsumi and the Japanese Dai-Shihan. He passed the Godan (Sakki) test at the Hombu Dojo in 2015 under Nagato Sensei. Kevin has since received the rank of Judan Chigyo Menkyo (11th dan). In 2021, Kevin had the honor of being one of three uke for Nagato Sensei, at Tai Kai in Dayton Ohio. He also trained with Nagato Sensei at the Germany Tai Kai.
Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. He is also a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. Prior to his martial arts training, Kevin was an elite level gymnast and All-American, nationally ranked in the United States. Kevin has worked as a personal trainer, life coach, academic advisor, and mental health counselor. Kevin is Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and currently works as a the Director of Counseling Services at Brevard College. He also runs a private psychotherapy practice working with men to help them heal and live fulfilling lives. Kevin often uses aspects of Bujinkan training in his counseling practice.
